Today I had lunch with a friend that I haven’t seen in a while, coffee with another that I see often but don’t always connect with on a more personal level because I am often busy.
Then I had several voice and text conversations with five friends, touching base on a variety of issues they and I were facing. Tonight I will be seeing another set of friends. No doubt more meaningful conversations will be had.
Friends keep us grounded, they give us perspective; they pull on our reserves to give to them emotionally and they lift us up when we are down.
My friends require something from me: my time, my support, my vulnerabilities, and most importantly my willingness to carry on being a friend, always.
